Painting is my first love. Strong color is very prominent in my work and also very important to me in expressing that "outdoors" feeling. I came to printing later in my career,-after taking work shops and classes here in the North West- and I really relate to it: The process, the multiples, and the problem solving involved is challenging and makes it something I really love to do.

My two dimensional works usually involve a Western theme in some way or other; like a western landscape or possibly a figurative piece with a Cowboy -or at least a western hat- thrown in somewhere. I think this fascination with things western comes from several sources- like watching Western movies and TV Westerns in my childhood. Also, in my young adulthood, I lived in Velarde, New Mexico for a couple of years. This was where I really fell in love with the wide-open spaces of what we think of as "western landscapes".

I've taken numerous road trips and have traveled extensively in the Western United States, where, with sketchbook and camera in hand, I have studied the hills, roads, mountains and people that populate my work.
