The ability to create a beautiful textile out of an armful of yarns is captivating. It starts with “what if…” What if I used this color against that color, this texture or that size yarn, what if I use this pattern? Weaving is a never ending “what if…” and being able to use a computer to design means that I have the ability to try “what if” as much as I like to find the path I want to follow.

I started with a manual floor loom and when I realized I wanted more complex patterns I moved to a computer-assisted hand weaver’s loom which allowed me to weave basic to very complex patterns. The mechanics of the loom and the rhythms that develop as yarn is measured out, taken to the loom to be threaded for the pattern, wound on to the back and fastened to the front so that weaving can begin are as satisfying as the weaving.
